There is no doubt that the females game in NZ is ever increasing not only in participation numbers but also the standard of play.

To carry on the development in this exponential fashion; New Zealand Football and Mainland Football are hosting a Females in Football Week in early Feb 2010 to promote many facets of the game including playing, coaching and refereeing.

There will be Football Ferns from the senior and U20 NZ squads to assist throughout the week.

·        Venue: English Park

·        Dates: 15th, 16th & 19th of February 2010

·        Times: 4-8pm on these dates

·        Age groups:

o   15th Feb: 5-10year olds

o   16th Feb: 11-14year olds

o   19th Feb: 15 - senior women

During school hours on the 15th and 16th Feb the tour will take us to selected schools chosen by Mainland Football. Between the hours of 4-8pm the tour will run Football Festivals which involve a series of small sided games based on the individual within a team and competitive learning environment. Also during this time, Mainland Football will host a coaching Small Whites Course & a Refereeing introductory course aimed at providing females with greater levels of coaching/referee knowledge (whatever the age, ability level and/or experience). All courses are free of charge and we welcome any female onto them. There is a limit of 50 players per Football Festival so players must register before the event. The registration form will be on the Mainland Football website by the end of next week. Mainland has a target of completing 3 Football Festivals per day in Chch. Mainland Football will be sending out more specific information closer to the time of the event.

Clubs: What’s on offer for you?

Mainland Football would like to officially invite all clubs down to observe the Football Festivals at English Park. Football Festivals are an excellent way of:

·        starting the season

·        promoting your club through enjoyment in the wider community

·        getting to know your players (in your team and/or age group)

·        Trialling players

·        Doing something new, exciting and different within your training sessions

During the Football Festivals there will be information available on ‘How to run a Football Festival’ and ‘When are good times to run them’. At this time, Club representatives will be encouraged to promote their club after a Football Festival has been completed. If you would like to Set up stalls, hold BBQ’s and give out flyers about your club, you are more than welcome too. Example, If Sally is already signed up with a local club then focus should be on another player (remember that these events are for non-footballers as well). Slogan, “Bring a non-footie friend to footie”.

If your club is interested in organising promotional material and/ or would like to know more information surrounding this week then please contact Mainland Football by email

We look forward to any correspondence from your club.

Cheers
